I've had several therapists in the last few years, and Elizabeth is one of my favorites, if she's not my favorite (she might be). Elizabeth's style makes me think about things in a different way. I also am able to communicate with her easily because she seems to have a similar communication style to me. Additionally, I feel safe when talking to her.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have worked successfully with a broad cross section of people who have come to me with a variety of life issues. I do not use the exact same approach with each client; rather I tailor the treatment to fit the individual. I would say that I am integrative in my approach, using a variety of techniques including cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, motivational interviewing, psycho dynamic, etc. I am also certified in hypnosis and employ meditative or relaxation techniques as appropriate.

My clients appreciate that I am a good listener and am empathetic. However, they also appreciate my helping them move forward. I am analytical in my thinking and assist clients in probing and viewing things from varying perspectives. I often give clients homework assignments that help them work on their goals in between sessions.

I have worked in the counseling field for 24 years and have experience in a broad variety of areas. I find this helps me tremendously. Many client have co-occurring conditions. Others are not able to communicate their primary issue(s) initially. This being said, I have worked with the following:

Depression

Anxiety disorders

Relationship issues

Couples counseling

Chronic illness or chronic pain

Career (taught career classes on college campus for 8 years)

Addiction (drugs, alcohol, sexual, etc.)

PTSD (worked with combat veterans and sexual assault victims for over two years)
