Hello, I’m Lydia

I’m a qualified and experienced counsellor with over 12 years’ experience supporting children aged 5 and above, young people and adults through a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties.

I understand that reaching out for counselling can sometimes feel daunting. You may not know exactly where to start, or you may simply feel that things have become difficult to manage on your own. Whatever has brought you here, I aim to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are.

I am MBACP qualified, with a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling and Supervision, a Diploma in Counselling, and a Diploma in Holistic Therapies. I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

My experience includes working therapeutically on both a one-to-one and group basis. I have also worked in a variety of person-centred and client-facing roles within charitable organisations. These experiences have given me the opportunity to support people from many different backgrounds and with a wide range of experiences.

How I can support you

I work using an integrative approach, meaning I can draw on different therapeutic techniques depending on your individual needs and circumstances. My approach has a strong Person-Centred (Rogerian) foundation, and I believe that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is an important part of the counselling journey.

I will not judge you or tell you what you should do. Instead, I will work alongside you, helping you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

I have experience supporting clients with:

Anxiety, depression and stress

Low self-esteem and confidence

Trauma and PTSD

Domestic abuse

Rape and sexual abuse

Psychological and physical abuse

Childhood experiences and difficulties

Bereavement and loss

Anger and emotional difficulties

Self-harm and suicidal thoughts

The impact of suicide and self-harm on individuals, families and friends

Personality disorders

Eating disorders

Learning difficulties

Drug and alcohol misuse

When working with children aged 5 and above and young people, I understand the importance of creating a safe, supportive and age-appropriate environment where they can communicate and express themselves in a way that feels comfortable for them.

Most importantly, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to listen, understand and support you as you explore what you are experiencing and what you would like to change.

You don't have to have everything figured out before starting counselling. Sometimes having someone who genuinely listens can be the first step towards feeling differently.

I offer remote counselling worldwide and face-to-face counselling within my local area, where appropriate.

If you feel that my approach may be right for you, I would be happy to support you on your journey.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
