Hi, I’m Laura Stoops. I am a UK-qualified integrative counsellor (based in Northern Ireland) and a registered member of the BACP and NCPS. My approach is deeply rooted in the belief that every person’s story is unique.

Before becoming a counsellor, I completed a PhD which focused on the art of listening to and understanding human experiences. While my research wasn't in psychology, it taught me the profound value of truly "hearing" someone—a skill that sits at the very heart of my gentle, supportive way of working today.

She has offered me space to splurge out muddles of thinking and has been able to present them back to me coherently, she has offered me worksheets and ideas to mull over and to complete if helpful. She has also offered me tools and practices to use as guides. I am sure her practice is different and tailored to each person but I am grateful for what I have received so far. I feel Dr Stoops is very invested in helping me and making these sessions work as well as they can for me which is lovely.

Laura takes the time to listen to me and offer guidance when appropriate, she gives me a non judgemental space to safely explore things that are bothering me in that moment. She also takes the time to suggest resources I might like and her analogies and resources have helped improve my anxiety and self esteem.
