Ive only just started therapy for the first time and was a bit trepidatious about it… I was matched with Rebecca and I’m so pleased I was! I’ve had two sessions with Rebecca and already I have been able to connect the dots with some things I had never even considered. She’s fantastic and offers really good insights and knowledge while also listening and being attentive to my concerns. It’s such a relief to be able to speak with her each week!

Hi! I'm Rebecca, a qualified pluralistic counsellor, providing therapy through BetterHelp via phone, live chat and video.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process. It's a space where we can slow things down, make sense of what's going on, and explore what might feel helpful for you. I don't believe in trying to fit people into a particular model. Instead, we'll take the time to understand you as an individual. Everyone who comes to counselling brings their own experiences, strengths, challenges and ways of making sense of the world. So, rather than assuming I know what will work for you, we'll explore that together.
I don't see myself as the expert on your life, either. You know yourself in ways that I never could, and I believe that, even when things feel confusing or overwhelming, you may already have some of the answers within you. My role is to bring my knowledge and experience alongside yours, helping you explore what's going on, make sense of your experiences and find a way forward that feels right for you.
One of the things therapy can offer is the opportunity to "join the dots." Together, we can begin to notice patterns, make connections between experiences that may not have seemed linked before, and understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a different way. Sometimes, that understanding can bring a sense of acceptance too. Parts of ourselves that we've judged, struggled with or even learned to dislike can begin to make more sense when we understand where they've come from and what purpose they may have served.
Acceptance is something that feels particularly important to me. Carl Rogers wrote, "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." It's a simple idea, but one I've seen reflected in therapy time and again. I don't believe change comes from criticising ourselves into becoming someone different. Instead, I think it can grow from understanding ourselves with enough honesty and compassion that change becomes possible.
The relationship we build is an important part of this. Mick Cooper's work on pluralism has strongly influenced my practice, particularly the idea that therapy should be shaped around the person rather than the other way around. We'll regularly check in about how therapy is feeling for you, what's helping, and what you might need more or less of. If something isn't working, we can talk about it. Your voice and experience matter throughout the process.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want from therapy, nor do you have to have everything figured out before we begin. Whether you've been considering counselling for a long time or you've only recently started thinking about it, we can simply start with where you are now.
If any of this has resonated with you, I look forward to hearing from you and beginning this journey together.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
