Hello and Welcome…..
Everyone has choices to make in life. Some are harder to make than others. My goal for you is to work together to provide a non-judgmental therapy experience. My name is Denise Mitchell and I have been providing therapy to individuals from age nine to adults for over ten years.
My educational background started at the University of Pittsburgh where I received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education and Counseling. My journey to Maryland encouraged me to take my education a step further. Once I settled in Maryland, I attended Loyola University where I completed the requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I have been providing therapy in this capacity for four years.
I have a wide array of experience working with adults 18+. My specialty is diverse and includes working with individuals with learning challenges, social skills challenges, anxiety/stress, behavior concerns, trauma/abuse, coping skills, friendship skills, self-esteem/self-confidence, problem-solving and self-harming/suicidal ideations, and grief.
My approach to therapy is to use a variety of modalities such as Person-centered therapy to guide you through steps to resolve problems. Reality therapy to discover choices and options and what is happening in your life now. Cognitive behavior therapy assists with recognizing how your thinking affects your behavior. With these therapeutic styles as the focal point, it is still my practice to select a combination of approaches that best fit the person and their needs. Not one approach fits all. I will tailor therapy to your specific needs.
My style of therapy is to create a warm therapeutic environment where you feel safe, relaxed, and open to begin discussing concerns. The decision to seek therapy can be scary and feel overwhelming. Making this decision together can lessen your apprehension and provide room for change to occur. I provide genuineness, caring, and empathy during my sessions. I encourage us to work together to create a treatment plan that is right for you.
I am looking forward to us working together and enlightening you with a different way of thinking. Don’t worry I will meet you where you are, and we can make the transition together.
Best wishes,
Denise

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

She is amazing and tells me what I need to hear!
Denise has been a great resource to me during the most difficult times in my life to date. Her constant encouragement and approach to breaking down different situations helped me to come through the light at the end of the tunnel with confidence. She is a great person to talk to with and I’m so grateful we were matched.
Denise and I have been working on this wellness journey since March. At a very dark time she helped me to navigate through a space that at the time I had a hard time moving through. She is professional, caring, and always available to her clients. I am grateful for her.
Denise has been very helpful and made me believe in myself. I would recommend her to anyone in a struggle. Thank you for being there for me Denise!
Denise is very personable and a great listener. I love how our sessions don't feel forced or awkward, but are very organic. She responds in a timely manner and sends messages of encouragement all throughout the week. We have only met for three sessions, but so far, I have enjoyed every session.
Denise Mitchell is a wonderful counselor. She is understanding and empathetic, but also firm. She motivates me to put in the work and set achievable goals. She helps me use concrete tools to work on the areas I struggle with. I highly recommend her.
Very helpful in working on my issues. I feel she is also practical and helps get to the root of the issue.
Denise has been very personable and easy to talk to about the issues that I've been dealing with in my personal life. She's able to understand my concerns, and help me to see them in a different light, and really does so in a friendly conversational manor. I'm only a couple weeks in now, but she's given me a lot to think about and I definitely appreciate the time and support that she has provided!
It’s still early in the process but we’re working through my issues. She’s listening and her suggestions are helpful so far
Very resourceful in solutions.
Denise so far is amazing! She is very understanding and goes above and beyond for me. She is a very good therapist and I really appreciate the exercises she gives so that I can thrive and apply them to situations as they arise in the future.
Working with Denise so far has been amazing. She listens and meets me where I am. She pushes my thinking without making me feel judged. I am working with Denise on issues related to relationships and grief.
Denise has been a great resource and support during my time using Faithful Counseling. She has been encouraging and supportive as she listens to what I need to share and asks me the questions that lead me to application and growth in my own reflection. She shares things relevant to our conversation and has a great way of incorporating her great sense of humor into sessions that helps build relationship. I am grateful for the way she keeps things real and checks-in with me during the week just to see how I am progressing with my thoughts or actions based on the previous conversation. I am grateful to have been connected with Denise.
