More about Hayley

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP, NCPS

I am a qualified and accredited UK based counsellor with 4 years of professional work experience. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their Code of ethics. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) whose code of ethics I also uphold. I hold professional indemnity insurance with Protectivity.

I am a trauma informed practitioner and have experience in working with individual clients with many types of issues including depression, low self esteem, difficulties forming and maintaining relationships, adverse childhood experiences, trauma and loss. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and neurodiversity affirming . As per the code of ethics for both the BACP and NCPS, I regularly undertake further training as part of my continued professional development (CPD).

I have background experience working in the public and voluntary sector, including the prison service and older people's services. For 3 years I worked with a charity called Dad's Unlimited, supporting men's mental health, including working with men who had experienced domestic abuse and issues around family separation such as parental alienation.

Seeking counselling can be daunting and it can be hard to know what to expect. Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk about and explore in depth whatever is troubling you in a non-judgemental, supportive, collaborative, and non-discriminatory environment. Whilst I have an appreciation for all types of counselling and may incorporate other styles into our work together, I favour a more psychodynamic approach to counselling, which means we would work with your past and your present; exploring relationships, life experiences, patterns of behaviour and attachments to others. I don't have the answers, but my aim is to build a strong and trusting professional relationship and to work with you to help you find them.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Reviewed January 2024

Hayley has been an invaluable support for me since starting therapy. Her ability to hold the space, hear, understand and reflect back what’s needed to be shared has been enormously helpful during what’s been a time of healing and transition. At the same time she has been able to skilfully guide me towards aspects of myself or my past that have benefited from being explored. Therapy is not always a comfortable endeavour but it’s certainly a worthwhile one and I genuinely couldn’t ask for anything more from Hayley during my journey.
