I have had a wonderful experience working with Shelby! She has completely helped me change my relationship with myself and she's really easy to talk with and open up to. Therapy can be hard to go through but she was the first therapist I have felt like I could really be honest with. I went to her at a very low point in my life and although I'm sure I will have more low points, I know that she has equipped me to handle them with grace and compassion towards myself.

Shelby is amazing! I’ve done a lot of work and therapy in the past and yet I feel I’ve made more progress lately than I have in many years prior. I feel she supports me in taking actionable steps, connecting with myself, building trust in myself, leaning into areas that need continued awareness. I’m very happy I stuck with BetterHelp until I found her!

My name is Shelby Fryar. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Texas and Tennessee. I have experience working in private practice and residential settings with acute crisis as well as addiction. I specialize in trauma and am trained in EMDR. If you are struggling with anxiety, stress, fatigue from the world, depression, going through life transitions or struggling to get up in the morning I think we could work well together.
My approach to therapy is very client centered allowing you to direct where you want the work to go. I offer support and will work with you to help you get the most out of your life. I pull skills from DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing - meaning that mindfulness, thought processes and why you do what you do are the main focuses during the therapeutic hour.
If this sounds appealing to you I would love to begin taking the first or maybe the 100th step with you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Great counselor. Great person. Its always good to have someone else to talk to.
I’ve loved working with Shelby. She listens to me and gives me constructive recommendations and practices that don’t overwhelm me and allow me to grow on my own time. She’s not afraid to call me out and point out (in the nicest way) when I’m falling into negative patterns and I always look forward to my time with her. 11/10 would recommend to my best friend.
Shelby is a great listener and is constantly asking me challenging questions that support my exploration of my emotions. I have also enjoyed her prompts to challenge my own thought patterns.
So sweet and the best listener. I love talking to her❤️
